Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Van Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic regulations. You will be delivering heavy items and have a drivers mate to support you. You will need to be physically fit to lift the items. Good customer care skills are also required as you will be dealing with the general public. On occasion, there will be some basic assembly tasks.
This is a PM shift starting at 2pm and continuing till all deliveries have been completed (usually around 10pm) Minimum 8 hours per day paid.
Monday to Friday with some weekend shifts.
Pay: Monday to Friday £12.50 Saturdays £16.50 Sundays £18.75
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a van for the delivery of goods to various locations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of items.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and logs as required.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies during driving operations.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, addressing any queries or concerns from clients.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Van Driver or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of commercial driving practices.
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic maintenance on the vehicle as needed.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics processes is advantageous.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and clients.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping.
- Capability to drive safely under various weather conditions and navigate through different routes efficiently.
- Ability to handball heavy items.
