Description
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all road safety regulations.
You will be an experienced Class 1 driver. You need to be a confident driver as you will be delivering to rural locations and farms.
You may be driving a class 2 vehicle on occasion. You will be delivering up to 9 drops a day. There may be an occasional night out staying in a sleeper cab when collecting goods from the Yorkshire area. Some handball may be required on occasion. The vehicles are automatic.
Start time 05.45am.
Duties
- Operate a lorry in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing of items for transport.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation as required by company policy.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while on the road and at delivery sites.
- Provide excellent customer service during interactions with clients upon delivery.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driving licence (CPC) is essential.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
