Training Team Wins for the Backline Training Team

Backline Training, based in the South West of England is celebrating a boost in business since partnering with MT training and becoming an accredited trainer for the National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS).
 
As an existing training provider for AITT, Sam Hay (Training Manager) at Backline Training saw an opportunity to enhance their offering and meet the specific training needs of their current clients, but also to attract other clients with very specific training requirements.
 

“One of our current clients, Wales and West Utilities, does a lot of work on the gas network, which means that they have to meet the exacting requirements outlined by their insurance provider. In this instance they needed to be NPORS accredited.

We already supply them with temporary drivers who need to be NPORS accredited, so it made sense for us to become accredited trainers and deliver the team training on their behalf,” said Sam.

 
The NPORS accreditation means that Backline Training has also been able to expand on the number of training categories offered, such as a wider range of forklift trucks, excavators, and telehandlers, as well as site safety stuff – Banksman, Slinger/Signaller etc.
 

“Despite the challenges that we’ve faced over the past 15 months and the impact that Covid-19 has had on the industry as a whole, we’re really pleased to have been able to expand the training side of the business and support our clients in their own growth too”, said Sam.

 
The partnership with MT Training means that the Backline Training team can help people obtain their HGV license as well as offer license upgrade training to those who already hold one.
 

“Being able to attract new talent into the haulage industry is crucial for us as a business, but also for the industry in general. Becoming a driver or a trucker isn’t everyone’s career of choice, but there are some fantastic opportunities out there and we’re glad that we can help the younger generation, as well as more female drivers enter the profession,” added Sam.
