Sophie leading the way for Female drivers
We spoke to Sophie from who drives for our Plymouth office who took the jump from behind the desk to behind the wheel and shares her experiences.
What made me get into the industry?
Shifting from my cushy office job to driving was a pretty big leap. The routine of the office wasn’t fulfilling anymore, and I wanted more freedom and independence on the road. The monotony and constraints of office life was mentally draining, while driving feels like a new adventure every day —new places, changing scenery, and a sense of control over my life. I also couldn’t bear the woman I worked for 😄 I now have a better work-life balance, despite the longer hours.
What do I enjoy about driving?
- Freedom and Independence
- Solitude and Reflection
- Scenery and Adventure
- Hands-On Work
- Escape from Routine
- Physically tiring in a good way
What advice would I give to other women wanting to join the industry?
Women are still massively underrepresented in the industry. Be confident in your abilities (You CAN do it!), choose the right training, put safety first, be prepared for the physical demands, stand up for yourself and don’t be pushed around by the “men who think they know better” (but listen to advice!)
If like Sophie you are interested but don’t know where to start give us a call or enquire with us and we can help start you journey in to the driving world.
