Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Van Driver to join our team. You must have Class B +E on your licence and have trailer towing experience.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently while ensuring excellent customer service. This role requires effective communication skills, a strong understanding of vehicle operation, and the ability to navigate various routes.

You will be assisting loading and unloading so physical fitness is a must.

You will be working out of various branches and be able to travel to Cullompton, Exeter and Torquay to commence work. So own transport is essential.

You will need to be clean shaven on commencement of this role due to health and safety regulations.

You will undertake regular training in a classroom environment.

The role is for 6 months and for the right candidate lead to a temp to perm position.

45 hours Monday to Friday will O/T available.

£14.70 per hour (45 hours per week)

Duties

  • Safely drive and operate the van to deliver goods to designated locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Load and unload goods, ensuring they are secured properly for transport.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues.
  • Demonstrate mechanical knowledge by performing basic maintenance on the vehicle as needed.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while on the road.
  • Assist in warehouse duties when not driving, including inventory management and organisation.

Qualifications

  • Valid driving licence with a clean driving record; experience in commercial driving is preferred.
  • Must be able to tow a trailer and have experience of towing.
  • Previous experience as a Van Driver or Delivery Driver is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members effectively.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine checks and maintenance on the vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with flatbed vehicles is a plus but not essential.
