We have a great opportunity for a motivated candidate to join a busy transport team located in Launceston as a Weekend Transport Supervisor. The successful candidate will be working closely with the Transport and warehousing team to supervise drivers at the weekend, along with building and maintaining a relationship with customers. The key responsibilities of the role are:

• Weekend supervisor, for all logistics operations
• Planning routes for the weekend and allocating jobs to drivers
• Communicating with drivers throughout the weekend
• Contacting logistics partners across the country to arrange back loads
• Reviewing health & safety onsite and especially around our transport activities
• Monitoring drivers’ hours and carrying out routine compliance checks
• Maintain contact with existing customers and deal with potential customer enquiries
• Managing internal records and databases with up to date information
• Work with other areas of the business to ensure an efficient and cost-effective operation
• Work in accordance with the companies Operator standards and systems.

The successful candidate will require –

• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in an HGV/LGV environment
• Knowledge and understanding of planning for general road freight, load planning and 3rd party logistics
• Knowledge of operational processes and practices in transport operations
• Excellent numeracy/literacy and IT skills
• Ideally Sound geographical knowledge of the South West
• Strong organisational skills
