We have a great opportunity for a motivated candidate to join a busy transport team located in Launceston as a Weekend Transport Supervisor. The successful candidate will be working closely with the Transport and warehousing team to supervise drivers at the weekend, along with building and maintaining a relationship with customers. The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Weekend supervisor, for all logistics operations
- Planning routes for the weekend and allocating jobs to drivers
- Communicating with drivers throughout the weekend
- Contacting logistics partners across the country to arrange back loads
- Reviewing health & safety onsite and especially around our transport activities
- Monitoring drivers’ hours and carrying out routine compliance checks
- Maintain contact with existing customers and deal with potential customer enquiries
- Managing internal records and databases with up to date information
- Work with other areas of the business to ensure an efficient and cost-effective operation
- Work in accordance with the companies Operator standards and systems.
The successful candidate will require –
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in an HGV/LGV environment
- Knowledge and understanding of planning for general road freight, load planning and 3rd party logistics
- Knowledge of operational processes and practices in transport operations
- Excellent numeracy/literacy and IT skills
- Ideally Sound geographical knowledge of the South West
- Strong organisational skills
